This large, sturdy rocker - brimming with character - was saved from a thrift shop where it brooded as an ominous black chair with an equally ominous black leather patch of a seat held on with rusted nail heads. Honestly. It looked like something a professional executioner would come home to rock in after a long day at the chopping block.
Facelift time!
After removing the bleak black seat, I painted the entirety of the chair bright blue. Next I gave it a solid seat. I decorated said solid seat with strips of Guatemalan belting sewn together to make a complete piece of thick cotton fabric. Finally, I added more belting around the perimeter of said seat. Much better. I think you could now rock a baby in it without giving the poor child nightmares.
