This looked to me like a chair from someone's kitchen dinette set circa 1955. Formerly black and taupe...ewww...I saved this from its bleak color scheme with bright turquoise, red, and yellow hues.
When I was young, I had an old hand-embroidered Guatemalan shirt - known as My Lucky Test Taking Shirt - which I wore any time I took a standardized test...the PSAT, SAT, AP tests, ASVAB, GRE, CBST, etc. And I always did well.
As an adult, I found another such shirt and lent it to my daughters whenever they were faced with a standardized test of their own (and they always did well too). But, since we are all through taking those tests now, it was time to sacrifice the shirt's geometric bird motifs for the greater aesthetic good. I finished the chair with cowboy-themed beaded button-covers given to me by my dear friend Ellie.
