I inherited this chest from my mother. It was a drab green (why, Mom, why?), so I stripped it then stained it in hopes it would look great with all my dark wooden bedroom furniture. No such luck. In a frantic attempt to liven it up, I painted rectangles and squiggles all over it (thank you, empty mustard bottle), but my imagination ran out at that point and the chest spent the next two years languishing in my closet with my cowboy boot collection lined up on top of it.
Then - epiphany - I realized this useful container was destined to be adorned with brightly colored images of the Holy Mother and Her Son. It is now bringing glory to my living room, sans cowboy boots.
