The wooden design forming this old chair's back called out for pretty things to twirl in the open spaces.   I had a treasured piece of brilliant orange/turquoise/yellow/green weaving from Ecuador - obtained at a thrift shop nearby, although I can't remember which one - that I used to create small spinning heart ornaments as well as the main seat cover.  Buttons, rickrack, bold solid-colored rodeo cloth, and hand embroidery come together to form the classic, simple central design.
